SWTOR Conversation XMLs → dl.dropbox.com

catpella:

These are XML files containing the subtitle text of conversations in Star Wars: The Old Republic. A few caveats:

-This is from an early beta build (as in July ‘11). The files were easier to get at then. I do not know how to extract them now, so I do not have a recent version with anything from post-launch content (like Black Hole, new flashpoints or operations, etc.)

-These CONTAIN SPOILERS. In particular, the vo_holding folder holds dialogues removed from the game. Some reference events such as companions choosing to leave you, which is no longer possible- in-game. That folder provides clues to dropped plot points.

-These are highly contextual, and as a result, hard to read. Open one and you’ll soon realize that it does not say who is saying what lines. In a limited dialogue (such as the companion conversation files), it is generally easier to tell who is speaking, since the only choices are the PC or the companion. (Except sometimes there are companion convos where other companions speak up!) The PCs are always distinguished by having the dialogue line, “summary phrase” under that, and the short version used in the convo wheel under that. NPCs only have a single line. Alien dialogue is flagged as “alien”, so you can pick out who doesn’t speak basic. However, if you get into class quest texts when you have all 5 companions, plus your questgiver, and you, all talking…it gets fun to figure out who’s talking. Consider this a challenge in learning to recognize NPC voices?

Just unzip it and have fun poking through! Finding what you need should be fairly easy, but send me an ask if you need help. If you want the dialogue for a quest on a planet, go to “location” and that planet. Class quests are always inside folders named for the class. I believe heroics and bonus are in the “bronze” folders. Companion stuff is in the “companion_character” section and then in the individual folders. Things that take place in space locations are in “open worlds”. Sometimes classes have different names, like “sorcerer” is often used for inquisitor, and “spy” for imperial agent. Things in “vo_holding” are, as I said before, deleted content.

Enjoy this collection! I had been considering putting together “target packs” for each class, which would only contain material relevant to that class (only that class’ class quest dialogues, only their companions, etc), but right now I don’t have the time. So this is a pack of everything. if anyone else would like to make specialized versions, or host this elsewhere in case my download link ever goes down, feel free to.

IGN Preview: Patch 1.3 Video & Interview - "Allies" → ign.com

Daniel Erickson talks to IGN about Game Update 1.3 and what they’ve got planned. The article also features a video with James Ohlen discussing the new additions. The big four include:

  • Group Finder
  • Server transfers
  • Legacy Perks to tailor the leveling experience
  • Adaptive Gear + Augment tables

From the interview: “1.3 is primarily a features update, adding new functionality and quality of life systems to the game. Expect a return to big content with 1.4. We do not currently have a release date for 1.3 we want to share but it’s on a much shorter development cycle than 1.2 was.”
